Understanding my calling began by understanding the fragments – the parts – that made me whole. I lived in those fragments all my life. There was business Shadi who loves the world of systems thinking and value creation. There was Shadi the empath who loves listening to people, helping them heal, and leaving them better than he found them. There was spiritual and mystical Shadi, who loves looking out for the signs of the universe and trusting his intuition. There was Shadi the philosopher who has a knack for asking questions even as it makes me – or anyone around me – uncomfortable in an effort to diagnose the root cause of something. There was Shadi the leader and the fighter, who couldn’t lead or fight for anything that didn’t fully represent him. And there was Shadi the perfectionist who struggled with every paved path with a paralysis justified by the need for perfection.
Everything I chose to do in my life – every paved pathway I found – required a choice: which Shadi was I to fulfill? And which Shadis are going to be sacrificed and silenced so I could walk the chosen path?
But my calling had one demand: no sacrifices of Shadis this time around. Living in fragments wasn’t going to cut it anymore. My calling demanded a pathway that kept me whole and no inheritance could fulfill that demand. This is why I left. This is how I remembered my calling.
Six months passed between when I left Angola and when I launched this. Six months of questioning and shedding off the weight I carried all my life from all the sacrifices. Six months of letting go of the need for the illusion of security and stability that my inherited future provided. Six months of trial and error in building a whole that could hold all the fragments I carried inside of me.
Business Shadi gives me the systems thinking to piece together my journey into a repeatable, teachable method that I can apply on every seeker who wants healing and sovereignty, and teach to every coach who feels the need to go deeper than what their certifications allow. Shadi the empath provides me with the capacity to sense where you feel a stuckness in your life, and to hold the space necessary for you to explore it deeply. Spiritual and mystical Shadi allows me to be aware of the underlying patterns and trust my intuition as my guide as I hold your hand and walk your odyssey with you. Shadi the philosopher allows me to ask the questions that crack open the root causes of what appears on the surface. Shadi the leader and fighter gives me the integrity to reject shallow work and only engage in what promises true transformation. And Shadi the perfectionist ensures that I value precision and the constant refinement of my methods that are the only thing that will remain long after I am gone.
After a lifetime of borrowed compasses from my father’s legacy, from society’s expectations, and from the paths others paved before me; I can finally say that my compass is a sovereign one. This compass revealed my true calling. This is why I say that it is remembered, not learned.
And helping seekers, coaches, businesses, and beyond through this deep work of integration is how I fulfill that calling and pave my own sovereign path.
